Brookside 4th of July Parade

Release Date: June 24, 2019

The Brookside Community Club will have its annual Fourth of July Parade on Thursday, July 4thstarting at 9 am. This year's parade, themed “Brookside: The Happiest Little Place on Earth” will honor the Unstopped Girls, a group of rising eight graders at Mendham Township Middle School. These ten girls have been holding Girl Scout meetings at the Community Club since 2012, and it has become a place near and dear to them. When the Girl Scouts told them they could not earn a community service badge by raising money for renovations to the Club because it was “too big a project”, the girls refused to accept that answer and formed a new group. Since September 2018, the Unstoppable Girls have raised over $35,000 for renovations to the Community Club. Please come and honor our Unstoppable Girls and thank them for their service. This year the parade will honor the Unstoppable Girls as the Grand Marshals. The National Anthem will be sung by Allie Bishop. The Schedule of Events is as follows: 8 am Breakfast- Community Club Field, 9 am Parade begins, 11 am picnic lunch- Community Club, 1:30 pm Swimming at the Brookside Beach and at 7 pm Bingo in the Community Club. There will be Field Games, Parade Awards and activities for kids of all ages. Clown Balloonist, Dunking Booth, Pony Rides, Pie-Eating Contest, Moon Bounce, Pooch Parade, and much more fun for everyone. There is still time to enter a float or Antique Car or anything else. Please contact Buzzy Thomas at 201-738-7881. If you would like to enter the Pooch parade contact Diane Tolley 973-543-7302. The Community Club also needs people to help the day of the parade. Please contact Lynda Menton at 973-543-4988 if you can help. All events are free for the day. But they are not free for the Brookside Community Club. Now more than ever the Club is relying on your generous donations in order to make this the grandest celebration ever. The Club does not receive any money from the town and your donations fund the entire event! Year after year, many who grew up here come back for the old-fashion good time. So, please open your hearts and your wallets and help us make this a celebration to remember. Please make your donations out to BCC 4thof July Parade Committee and send it to Rosie Flood, Treasurer, c/o Brookside Community Club, P.O. 168, Brookside, NJ 07926. All donations are Tax Deductible. Thank you for your support and donation
