CODE ENFORCEMENT GUIDELINES

  • VEHICLES 'FOR SALE'  
    • Cannot be parked in the front yard of any property. 
    • Only in the driveway.
  • OUTDOOR DISPLAYS
    •  Are prohibited except for the dates specified in the Borough ordinance. 
  • POWER EQUIPMENT NOISE CODE & GUIDLINES
    • Type of Equipment 
      • Equipment which uses electric, gasoline or a source of power other than manual and shall specifically include a power saw, hammer, sander, drill, grinder, lawn mower, leaf blower, woodchipper, thatcher, generator, air compressor, etc.
    • Hours of Use
      •  No construction activities or use of power equipment shall take place at any time other than the following:
    • Weekdays
      • Monday through Saturday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
    • Sundays and Holidays
      • No construction activities or use of power equipment shall be permitted on Sundays or on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
    • Exceptions 
      • Construction activities or use of power equipment by a  property owner on their own property provided that such activity is not carried on for profit or livelihood and is not performed by a paid contractor, may be carried on any day between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m
      • The operation of a farm as permitted under the Right to Farm Act (N.J.S.A. 4:1C-1 et seq.)
      • In case of health or safety, the Construction Official may grant a permit for construction activities or use of power equipment for a period not to exceed three days, subject to renewal for periods of three days or less, during hours otherwise prohibited by this section, as the Construction Official shall determine if emergency or in the interest of publicare necessary.
      • If the Construction Official determines that the public health, safety and welfare will not be impaired by construction activities or use of power equipment relative to any building or the excavation of streets and highways during hours otherwise prohibited by this section, and if he shall further determine that substantial loss or inconvenience would be suffered by any party if the ability to engage in such activities was denied, he may grant permission for such work to be done during hours otherwise prohibited by this section upon application being made at the time the permit for said work is awarded or during the progress of the work. Activities confined within a wholly enclosed building or structure
      • Activities necessary to prevent injury to persons or property, including snow removal
      • Activities conducted by or for any government unit or agency
      • The operation of a generator during a power failure
