"Water has become a highly precious resource.
There  are  some  places  where  a barrel of water costs more than a barrel of oil."

- The Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) is a modern Class III Activated Sludge Treatment Plant.

- The Plant EPA NPDES Permit is .450 MGD.
 - The Collection System has 126,288 LF of sewer lines.

- Lift Stations.

 - The WRF processes all wastewater in the Borough and operates around the clock effectively handling domestic sewage.

- Wastewater is transported through the collection system to the WRF

- This includes sewage coming from public buildings and businesses as well as residential homes.

 - The wastewater is filtered, contaminates removed, processed and purified into clean water and then returned to the local waterways.

- The WRF utilizes naturally occurring biological organisms to remove a portion of the wastewater contamination.
 - Examples of contaminates include:

- human waste
 - garbage
 - household cleaning chemicals
 - Effluents that run or leak into the collection system due to events such as rain or mudslides

 - The Borough's Licensed Operators monitor and manage the process of waste water treatment.

- There are lots of products that are used in the bathroom.
 - Some of them are labeled “flushable” but, unfortunately, they are not.
 - Sanitary Sewer lines are not designed to transport anything but toilet paper, water and human waste.
 - Do not use your toilet as a trash can, anything other than toliet paper can clog the sewage system’s lines and pumps, leading to breakdowns and sewage overflows.

- Sewage overflows often require expensive repairs and harm the health of our local waterways.

 - Never flush the following items:

- Facial tissues
 - Paper towels
 - Baby wipes/hygiene wipes even if labeled flushable
 - All-purpose cleaning wipes
 - Diapers
 - Cigarette butts
 - Dryer sheets
 - Toilet bowl scrubbing pads
 - Cotton swabs
 - Feminine hygiene products
 - Cat litter
 - Fats, oils and grease from the kitchen
 - Food scraps from the kitchen
