Hometown Heroes Banner Program
- Hometown Heroes Banner Program Committee
- To honor our U.S Military Veterans and Active Duty Service Members from the Borough of Mendham, the Borough Council established a Hometown Heroes Banner Program Committee in 2020.
- Committee Members are appointed by the Mayor, with preference given to U.S. military veterans and oversee the Banner Program.

- Banner Eligibilty
- Any active or reserve member of the U.S. Military who lives or lived in the Borough of Mendham.
- Any U.S. Military veteran, living or deceased, and honorably discharged, who lives or lived in the Borough of Mendham.

Banner Specs

All banners are 30” wide by 60” high and are of a uniform design as designated by the Committee.

Printed with a service member’s photo in uniform, name, rank, conflict, years of service and major awards.

Such as the Medal of Honor, Navy Cross, Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

Banner Display Location

Along East and West Main Street

May be expanded later to Hilltop and Mountain Avenue, at the discretion of the Governing Body.

The Committee cannot honor requests to place banners in a specific location.

The Borough Department of Public Works is responsible for placing banners on Borough poles.

Banner Display Days
-
Twice each year for a two-week period over the Memorial Day and Veterans’ Day holidays.

Cost
-
Each banner is paid for by private donation.

Suggested Donation $300.

The number of banners produced each year is determined by the Committee.

Banner Application Process

Must be submitted to the Borough Clerk with an 8” x 11” or 5” x 7” photo of the service member in uniform.

Must include the member’s DD214.

Applications must be submitted no later than April 1 for the current year’s program.

Initial preference will be given to older living veterans of WWI, WWII, and the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
