Officer-in-Charge of Borough Police Department
Mendham Borough Mayor Neil Henry has announced that Police Sgt. John Camoia has been appointed Officer-in-Charge of the Mendham Borough Police Department. “I am pleased to appoint Sgt. Camoia as Officer-in-Charge of the Borough Police Department,” declared Henry, adding, “This is a temporary appointment to ensure the smooth operation of the Police Department while the Borough conducts a systematic search for Chief Libertino’s permanent replacement.”
Mayor Henry noted that Sgt. Camoia has been a police sergeant with the Borough for more than 12 years and is well-prepared for this new assignment.
“Sgt. Camoia knows all of the members of the Police Department and is well familiar with police issues facing the Borough,” stated Henry. “I am confident that, with his training and experience, he will do a fine job as Officer-in-Charge and give the Borough an opportunity to consider all qualified candidates for permanent leadership of the Borough Police Department.”
The Mayor commented that Officer-in-Charge Camoia will work closely with retiring Police Chief Libertino to facilitate a smooth transition in police leadership.
“The appointment was made now to allow Officer-in-Charge Camoia time to work side-by-side with Chief Libertino,” stated Henry. “It also assures leadership continuity for the Police Department during the search process.”
