FEMA Disaster Recovery Assistance as a result of Hurricane Ida

Release Date: September 29, 2021

Dear Mendham Borough Residents and Business Owners,

If you were impacted by Hurricane Ida you may be eligible for FEMA assistance. Below are links to guide you with assistance requests due to this declared disaster - including what is covered and how to maneuver the application process.

What is covered?

Disaster assistance may include grants to help pay for temporary housing, emergency home repairs, destroyed home replacement, uninsured and underinsured personal property losses and medical, and dental and funeral expenses caused by the disaster, along with other serious disaster-related expenses, including childcare.

More information can be found here:

https://www.fema.gov/press-release/20210318/fact-sheet-frequently-asked-questions-about-individual-assistance

Need assistance with the process? FEMA has set up 3 Disaster Recovery Centers in New Jersey

You can find those locations here:

https://www.morriscountynj.gov/Morris-County-News/Ida-Survivors-in-Morris-County-May-Apply-for-Possible-FEMA-Assistance

Remember, FEMA will only pay for damage that exceeds what your insurance covers. You will want to speak with a representative from your homeowners insurance to see what loss they will cover.

SBA disaster loans are available if you do not qualify for FEMA assistance.

Phone numbers and additional information can be found in the attached Resources document. Mendham Borough will not be able to provide information on these programs – please reach out to FEMA or the SBA directly.

Sincerely,

Mayor Christine Serrano Glassner
