Arbor Day Celebration 2026

Release Date: April 28, 2026

In honor of Arbor Day, Mayor Jim Kelly and Councilwoman Marilyn Althoff joined the Department of Public Works, the Mendham Borough Shade Tree Commission, and local residents to plant a tree in the new Mendham Borough arboretum this past Friday.

The Borough would like to extend a big thank you to Tim Foerster of the Shade Tree Commission, Dave from ECOSST, as well as the DPW which makes the Shade Tree Program possible. To mark the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, the Commission selected a Red Oak (the state tree of New Jersey) for the planting.

The event followed Mayor Kelly’s formal signing of the Arbor Day Proclamation for April 24, 2026, a gesture encouraging all residents to support the environment by planting trees throughout the community.
