9/11 MEMORIAL CEREMONY RECOGNITION OF EACH EVENT AT

8:46 AM, 9:03 AM, 9:37 AM, & 10:03 AM

MAIN ST ENTRANCE TO FIRE DEPARTMENT

Dear Mendham Borough Residents and Business Owners:

To mark the milestone 25th Anniversary of the September 11 attacks, the Mendham Fire Department and First Aid Squad will coordinate a solemn 9/11 community memorial ceremony to honor those who perished 25 years ago on that fateful day.

This solemn event begins in the morning with the members of the Fire and First Aid Squad lining up along Main Street in front of the entry to the facilities and a ringing of the town alarm at 8:46 AM, the time of the first terrorist attack. The ceremony continues with a recognition of each terrorist attack at 9:03 AM, 9:37 AM, and 10:03 AM. 

We ask that if you are driving by at those times, please come to a complete stop and allow for a respectful silence during these moments of reflection.

The public is welcome to attend and respectfully observe. Together, we will honor the memories of those lost, reflect on the courage and sacrifice of so many, and reaffirm the spirit of unity that emerged from that tragic day.

Ceremony Details & Timeline:

• 8:30-8:45 AM: The community will assemble along Main Street directly across from Dunkin' Donuts at the end of the firehouse driveway.
• First responders, including Police, Fire, EMS, and other personnel, will line up in front of their facilities to observe moments of silence corresponding to the timeline of the fateful morning.
• 8:46 AM: The Borough alarm will ring, followed by a moment of silence, to mark the exact time the first terrorist attack occurred when the North Tower of the World Trade Center was struck.
• 9:03 AM: The Borough alarm will ring and a moment of silence to mark the second terrorist attack and United Airlines Flight 175 striking the South Tower of the World Trade Center.
• 9:37 AM: The Borough alarm will ring and a moment of silence to mark the third terrorist attack and American Airlines Flight 77 striking the Pentagon.

• 10:03 AM: The Borough alarm will ring and a final moment of silence to mark the fourth terrorist attack and United Airlines Flight 93 crashing in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers fought back against the hijackers.
