Message From The Mayor: Traffic & Storm Recovery Update
Traffic & Storm Recovery Update from the Mayor
Our Department of Public Works, Police Department, Fire Department, JCP&L, and emergency crews continue working to safely clear roads and restore access throughout Mendham Borough following the storm.
Many of the downed trees are tangled in or resting on active utility wires. Before crews can remove these trees, the utility company must first determine that the lines are safe to work around. In many cases, power must be shut off, damaged poles evaluated or replaced, and utility crews must complete their work before trees can be removed. This makes the cleanup process slower than simply cutting and removing fallen trees.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as crews work as quickly and safely as possible. Please continue to avoid downed wires, obey all road closures, and do not attempt to move trees or debris that may be in contact with power lines.
Current Road Conditions:
West Main Street – Tree and wires down; one lane is passable.
Hilltop Road – Tree, pole, and wires down; road remains closed.
Bernardsville Road – Tree, pole, and wires down; road remains closed.
Drake Road & Franklin Street intersection – Tree, pole, and wires down.
Near 5 Ironia Road – Tree and wires down.
Ironia Road (near Backer Farm) – Tree and wires down; road remains closed from Roxiticus Road to Mountainside Road.
Horseshoe Bend Road (closer to Cherry Lane) – Tree hanging on wires; road is passable, but use extreme caution.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and patience as we work to restore normal conditions. We will continue to provide updates as additional roads are cleared and utility restoration progresses. Stay safe.
Mayor Jim Kelly
