LEGAL NOTICE BOROUGH OF MENDHAM COUNTY OF MORRIS, NEW JERSEY

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the following ordinance was adopted on final reading by the Borough Council of the Borough of Mendham at a public meeting held on August 12, 2026, at the Garabrant Center, 4 Wilson Street, Mendham, New Jersey.

ORDINANCE NO. 10-2026
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 38 OF THE CODE OF THE BOROUGH OF MENDHAM, ENTITLED “POLICE DEPARTMENT”

The purpose of this ordinance is to amend Chapter 38 of the Borough Code to re-establish the position of Chief of Police as the executive head of the Borough's Police Department. The ordinance removes all references to the Public Safety Director position, repeals Section 38-22 pertaining to the Public Safety Director, and provides that the Chief of Police shall be directly responsible to the Appropriate Authority for the efficiency and routine day-to-day operations of the Police Department in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40A:14-118.
