Weather Storm Update

Release Date: September 08, 2021

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch which is in effect until 2:00AM Thursday, September 9, 2021. The current data suggests that thunderstorms with heavy rain are forecast to move through the region this evening. Normally the concern for flooding would be classified as low, however given the saturated grounds, creeks, and waterways, there is an elevated risk of flooding in some areas. We expect the majority of the activity to take place this evening into the early portions of the overnight hours. Initially, the risk is for embedded strong to severe storms with potential damaging wind gusts which remain our primary concern, along with the threat of a few isolated tornados.

High end totals for places that see repeated and slow moving downpours have the potential to see 1-2" of rain.

We will continue to monitor the data, and provide an additional update if necessary.

Stay safe!
