Message From the Mayor: Air Quality/Weather Update

Dear Residents,

Air quality remains a concern today as lingering smoke from Canadian wildfires keeps Air Quality Index (AQI) readings in the "Unhealthy” range. The good news is that conditions are expected to gradually improve throughout the day.

Forecasters expect smoke and haze to slowly thin during the morning, with more noticeable improvement around midday and through the afternoon. While today's trend is toward improvement, smoke is expected to continue this weekend.

Residents should remain aware of the potential for another increase in smoke on Saturday, along with the risk of heavy rain, flooding, and thunderstorms. Please continue to take precautions when air quality is poor, limit prolonged outdoor activity if needed, and stay aware as storms develop on Saturday. We will continue to monitor air quality and weather conditions throughout the weekend and provide updates as needed.
